Shuttle service (hop-on-hop-off)

We are currently in the final stage of getting a complete shuttle service up and running which will form part of the Robertson Wine Valley’s “Taste Responsibly” campaign. Within the next two weeks we will let you have all the detail, but in the mean time the following info: We have identified central, secure parking areas and you’ll be able to hop on and hop off without having to worry about tasting & driving. Big groups will also be able to book a specific bus for a day / the weekend, driving only your party throughout the valley (limited such buses available - so put your name on the waiting list asap). The project forms part of a partnership between the Robertson Wine Valley and the Breede River Winelands Municipality where opportunities are created for SMME’s within our community. In 2 weeks time this will be finalised and we will let you have all the details such as cost, maps etc. We are still looking for a nice catchy name - so get the creative juices flowing and let us have your thoughts. A case of wine delivered to your door goes to the winning suggestion.

Sporty-options

The Robertson Winery Miles of Smiles Half-marathon (21.1km), 10km Boland Championships and 5km School Challenge & Fun Run takes place Saturday, 2 June 2007. For more info/registration visit www.enteronline.co.za.

At Mooiuitsig/Outdoor Arena Golf-enthusiasts can play a quick round of golf at the “Kap ‘n Raps”-course - a 9-hole, 3 par course with beautiful views on the Langeberg Mountains. Or try your hand at the Rietvallei Shot-4-Shot challenge - again golf, but with a twist: Try and hit the ball to a target in the middle of the vineyards a couple of yards away. This is great fun, especially if you’re doing the rounds with a group of friends!

If you always wanted to try your hand at cross-bow (archery), be sure to pay a visit to Cloverfield, Rietvallei or Wonderfontein. At Cloverfield the Cross-Bow Association will be on hand to supply information on this sport, which is growing in popularity.

An exciting NEW sporting event is the Robertson Winery Phanto Ridge Mountain Bike Challenge which takes place Sunday, 3 June 2007 between Robertson and McGregor at the Phanto Ridge Vineyards. According to the WP MTB Association this race is “one of the highlights not to miss in 2007” . There are 3 different races: a challenging 56 km, 27 km and an easier 11km that is ideal for families. Bookings

Please book your activities as soon as possible - do not wait until the last moment. As I understand from the wineries, they’ve already had a fair amount of bookings and I expect some of the activities to be fully booked soon. Please download the program from our website www.wackywineweekend.com or send me a mail if for any reason you cannot get hold of it. Remember that all bookings need to be made directly with the wineries.

Daily bus-in packages

If you only want to come for a day, why not take one of the super luxury buses leaving from Cape Town & Bellville? The cost is R250 pp and includes transport, wine tasting on route as well as your passport.
